Student life

With around 25,000 students of primary, secondary, high school and university level for a population of 20,000 inhabitants, Louvain-la-Neuve is a city that breathes student life, offering a privileged place for its fulfillment.

Here you will find plans and addresses that will help guide you to get the most out of your academic year.

Studies, syllabi, the labyrinth of classrooms, tests...

Studying in Louvain-la-Neuve

Life in dorms, the parties, the student festivals, the events... plenty of good excuses to celebrate with friends!

Do not confuse Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve !

Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve are two different cities. The confusion is often made by students coming in Belgium for the first time. Leuven, Louvain or Louvain-la-Neuve ? An explanation in video !

Students clubs and KAP'S

You must have certainly heard of the clubs and KAP'S... or AEDL, CESEC, CEP, MAF? If not, you are in the right place to learn what it's all about !

KAP'S or “Kot-à-projets”

A true institution, the Kot-à-projets is the idea of students coming together and sharing a common life in an apartment based on the same mission.

The focus points of the KAPS are specific and diverse: theater, health, environment, sensitivity to children and developing countries, various student services, art and culture in all forms...

More than 80 KAP'S in Louvain-la-Neuve and twenty in Woluwe are represented by one entity, the Kot "Organe".

For all of the addresses and contacts for KAPS, the KAP'S Guide is updated each year in November and reports all of the KAPS of the current academic year.
To obtain it, contact the Kot Organe or visit our Tourism-Inforville Office.

Clubs

The Clubs bring together students from the same college for events and festive activities. Student parties and events are their daily lot !

Regional Student Groups

Far from the eyes, close to the heart... The regional student groups are a rally point, a “family” made up of students coming from the same province or town. They ensure the promotion of their region within the University and seek to maintain the traditions and folklore. They publish the Regional Journal.

The 16 regional student groups of Louvain-la-Neuve are headed by the Fédé.

Board for Foreign Students (CGEE)

More than 125 nationalities are mixed together in our city. This diversity also affects the student population.

The CGEE is the representative body of foreign students within UCL. On the side-lines of organizing socio-cultural events, it communicates the positions of foreign students on questions related to development, developing countries and society in general.

The CGEE also supports foreign students in all of their efforts upon their arrival in Louvain-la-Neuve (registration, housing, etc.).
